2020 was a unique year for WOMN, as it was for all of us.  We stayed focused on our goals, even as our programming moved online, and virtually connected with our colleagues across Millennium by creating spaces to meet, learn and network.

We continued to grow, expanding our reach by launching the Women in Investments Network (WIN) in the U.S., which aims to recognize, support, empower and enrich the community of women in Trading at Millennium through networking events and professional development. WIN hosted its Kick-Off event on September 23rd for women across the U.S. investment teams and plans to hold more events that will include the broader Firm.

Also in September, WOMN and MLPride held their first collaborative event – a virtual Fertility & Family Planning Seminar hosted by Dr. Sheeva Talebian of CCRM Fertility New York. Dr. Talebian covered all aspects of family building, including fertility testing and preservation, as well as options for the LGBTQIA+ community. The event was open to all Millennium employees and their partners.

In July, we were thrilled to welcome New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Traister, who gave a talk on the revolutionary power of women’s anger and its ability to change history. Traister described some of the gendered ways in which anger is portrayed in mass media and received by audiences, as well as highlighted her belief that anger’s ultimate power can spark revolutionary political movements and incite permanent social change.

We also continued our 2019 Mentor Class of 31 mentor/mentee pairs through the end of 2020 and held an informative virtual session on building successful mentoring relationships with Michael Reisman in May.

We closed out the year with a Power Hour, a virtual networking happy hour where we socialized and connected with our colleagues. Hosted by Steve Aguirre, Founder & CEO of Real Fun Growth, we were treated to a night of fun games and group discussions.

For International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month 2021, we worked with MLPride to host Fran Lebowitz for an engaging conversation focused on life in New York City, feminism, gay rights, and the trajectory of gender equity.

As we all navigate this historic time together, we thank you for your continued support of our important work, and we look forward to growing our impact in 2021.
