The Millennium Volunteer Network’s (MVN) mission is to provide opportunities for employees to collaborate with one another while directly giving back to the community. In 2022, Millennium employees supported a variety of nonprofits both through MVN and through their own civic involvement, virtually and in-person, to give back to their communities. Here are some of the ways our people and our nonprofit partners came together to give back in 2022:

Virtual Story Time

In honor of Black History Month, Millennium employees recorded themselves reading books focused on social justice issues, anti-racism or diversity of perspectives.   The recordings were shared to an online library for PS 297 K- Abraham Stockton.

Earth Matters

Millennium employees assisted Earth Matter NYC on Governor’s Island by harvesting lavender, planting greens, and learning about the composting process.

Back to School Packing Backpacks

Millennium employees packed almost 200 backpacks with school supplies and handmade bookmarks for PS 178K – Saint Clair McKelway.

Lunch Box Program

On multiple occasions during the summer and fall, Millennium employees partnered with Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church to provide over 350 meals to over 250 individuals, in addition to distributing countless crucial hygiene items and PPE.  More importantly, employees created a connection to a frequently shamed and judged group of individuals, with one such individual commenting, “These are the nicest volunteers and they talk with us.”

Delivering Senior Meals

Millennium employees worked with Stanley M. Isaacs Senior center to deliver meals to seniors in need.

Winter Wishes and Clothes Drives

For the 2022 holiday season, Millennium partnered with NY Cares to fulfill the holiday gift lists of children in need and collect winter coats for those without. Millennium also worked with The Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church to provide essential items and toiletries to local individuals, children, and families.
