Millennium's Multicultural Network

Our Multicultural Network (MCN) promotes open dialogue to increase awareness and understanding of issues related to race, culture and ethnicity. The MCN supports employees though events and activities that provide an opportunity for impactful conversations, professional development and community outreach. Here’s some of our most powerful MCN events from the past year:

Lunar New Year Reading

In collaboration with APEX for Youth and NY Cares, MCN joined our Millennium Volunteer Network to host two virtual story time events where volunteers read children’s books focused on Lunar New Year and Black History Month to Kindergartners through 2nd Graders.

Professional Development: How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome

In celebration of Diversity Month, Millennium’s Multicultural Network held a professional development event focused on the nuanced challenges that may exist for diverse employees and provided solutions targeted to some of those specific challenges. Topics included identifying and overcoming imposter syndrome, building effective influence strategies, and creating your own personal brand.

Black History Walking Tour

In celebration of Juneteenth and in collaboration with Black Gotham Experience (BGX), Millennium’s Multicultural Network (MCN) hosted a walking city tour that focuses on Black history and the Black communities that began their story in NYC from as early as 1643.

APEX for Youth Field Day

MCN volunteers joined APEX for Youth to support their Community Field Day.

Apex for Youth Reading Program

In collaboration with APEX for Youth, an organization that delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC, the MCN hosted virtual story time events where volunteers can read children’s books related to specific themes.

Diwali Event

Surbhi Sahni, award-winning chef and founder of TAGMO, held a discussion on the regional significance of mithai (sweets) during Diwali and other Indian festivals. She shared the history behind mithai customs during the festival of lights in India and all over the world. MCN members were then taken through a guided tasting of TAGMO’s handmade mithai.
