What initially excited you about joining Millennium?

Whilst researching the hedge fund industry, I repeatedly came across Millennium as one of the world’s top hedge funds. Initially, it was this reputation that excited me. I knew I would have the opportunity to learn from leading experts in our industry.

What did a day look like for you in Operations?

Operations pulls me into a variety of projects and tasks.  Primarily I focus on European equities and FX, but no two days are the same. I get to liaise with internal departments but also manage our relationship with prime and execution partners. These varying tasks present different challenges, responsibilities, and exposure.

How have you grown during your time at Millennium?

I first joined Millennium through the summer internship program in 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and was thrilled to be invited back for the graduate scheme in September 2019. The first few months were fairly daunting. I gained a lot of responsibility and faced a steep learning curve; however, my confidence and knowledge grew tenfold during that period.

What has surprised you about your time here?

Before starting at Millennium, I thought working for a large international firm meant I would be siloed in a very specific role and area of the business. I could not have been more wrong. I have had the opportunity to work with so many people across different parts of the business and in various regions. Everyone I’ve encountered has been welcoming and willing to take time out of their day to help me. It’s one of the Firm’s qualities that makes working here so enjoyable.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering coming to work at Millennium?

Working for Millennium is a great opportunity because you get to work alongside industry experts. To make the most of the opportunity, network with colleagues from across the business. Do not be afraid to ask questions and reach out to people you haven’t met before. You’ll be surprised by how willing everyone is to support you in your career.
