Can you explain your role in one sentence without using the word AI?
I lead a group of engineers that manage the software delivery lifecycle tools used by technologists across Millennium.
How do you apply creativity in your work as an engineer?
I approach every project as a software engineering challenge to solve. That mindset pushes me to look beyond one-off fixes and build solutions that are scalable and repeatable.
Creativity is essential in determining what the right solution should be and how we can build it in a way that continues to create value as needs evolve.
How can AI change your approach to solving a challenge?
AI helps me understand the broad scope of a challenge before narrowing down to potential solutions. It gives me faster ways to explore options, test assumptions and identify patterns, which helps my team focus on identifying the right problem to solve rather than optimizing for speed alone.
How can engineers best harness the power of AI?
I think AI is most powerful when you treat it as a multiplier, not a shortcut. There is no replacement for strong fundamental software engineering principles. As AI becomes more embedded in how engineers work, judgment becomes even more important.
I’ve also seen AI create value in some of the less visible parts of engineering, like documentation, troubleshooting, test case writing and summarization. Using AI in those areas can allow engineers to spend more time on architecture and higher-leverage challenges.
As AI becomes more embedded in engineering, what do you think will distinguish the strongest technologists?
I believe the next generation of technologists will not just use AI as a tool but will think with it natively. What will differentiate the strongest engineers is their ability to pair that fluency with sound engineering fundamentals and exercise judgment in how and when they apply these tools.
That’s why I value Millennium’s culture of learning and experimentation. It gives engineers the opportunity to stay current with evolving AI tools, test new approaches and continue developing the judgment needed to apply them effectively.
