Learn more about our employees’ career journeys through our “How I Got Here” series.
In this feature, we spoke with Matthew Kent, Fixed Income Business Manager, based in London. Read about his journey from joining Millennium as an Analyst to building a career across Fixed Income Business Management.

What opportunities at Millennium have most shaped your career since you joined as an Analyst in 2019?
Starting in the Middle Office Trade Support team gave me a deep, cross-asset understanding of trade capture, valuation, and the mechanics behind our strategies, which still underpin my work today. Being promoted to Head of EMEA Trade Support and helping design a centralized support model across Fixed Income, Equities, and Quant strategies were pivotal steps in my transition from pure execution to strategic thinking. Global exposure and helping build out both onshore and offshore support capabilities have given me a broader view of how markets and teams operate, how to tailor processes to different environments and ultimately laying the foundation for my transition into Fixed Income Business Management and Counterparty Relationship Management.
As you’ve grown in your role as a Fixed Income Business Manager, how has Millennium supported you in taking on greater responsibility?
Millennium has consistently paired clear objectives with real autonomy, trusting me to own strategic projects that directly shape the Global Fixed Income Platform. A core part of my role now involves working closely with our investment teams to refine their processes, expand their access to trading resources, and ensure they have the tools and infrastructure they need to be as effective as possible. I’ve been encouraged to step into increasingly complex work, like deepening key counterparty relationships and helping drive new AI-led initiatives. The culture here accepts that you will not do everything perfectly the first time, but encourages you to learn from challenges and use those experiences to keep developing, with support from exceptionally strong colleagues across investing, technology, and core functions.
Your role spans EMEA and brings you into contact with colleagues across Millennium’s global offices. How has that collaboration shaped the work you do?
Collaborating across regions has given me a multi-layered perspective on the global trading landscape, from market structure and regulation to cultural nuance. Working with teams across Millennium’s footprint has reinforced how important it is to design solutions that are globally consistent but locally practical. This connectivity allows us to present a unified Global Fixed Income Platform to our counterparties and align trading resources across jurisdictions. It has also made my work far more dynamic, with diverse viewpoints driving better problem-solving and process evolution.
Looking ahead, what are you most excited to keep learning, building or contributing at Millennium?
Looking ahead, I’m most excited about helping shape the next stage of growth for the Global Fixed Income Platform – both in how we operate and how we innovate. I want to keep enhancing the way we support investment teams, from onboarding new strategies to refining how we engage with counterparties and embed AI and data-driven tools into everyday workflows. I’m particularly motivated by the opportunity to turn new ideas into tangible improvements that strengthen the way our platform runs. Playing a role in the continued development of a deeply connected, globally integrated and increasingly technology-enabled Fixed Income platform is what motivates me most about the future at Millennium.
