How I Got Here with Arshia

You first joined Millennium as an intern. What has your journey looked like since then?

My journey with Millennium started through the internship program, where I had the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, contribute to meaningful work and begin understanding how my technical skills could support a larger business. So, when I returned full-time the following year, it felt like a natural next step.

I spent about three years in New York before recently moving to Dublin. While the office is new, I’ve stayed on the same team and continue to support many of the same responsibilities. That continuity has been valuable because I’ve been able to keep building on the relationships and knowledge I developed in New York, while also gaining exposure to Millennium from a different global office.

You joined Millennium with a strong technical background, and the role introduced you to new areas of financial services. How did the firm help you build that context?

I came to Millennium with a software engineering background, so I was excited to apply my skills in a new environment. At the same time, the business context was new to me, and I had to build an understanding of the financial concepts behind the work I was supporting.

What helped most was how open and collaborative the environment was from the beginning. I was able to learn through training, feedback and colleagues who were willing to share their knowledge, but also through day-to-day conversations where questions were encouraged. Because ideas did not just come from the top down, I felt more comfortable speaking up early in my career. That helped me learn quickly and better understand not just what we were building, but why it mattered to the business.

As your work has evolved, what has ownership looked like for you?

As I’ve gained more experience, ownership has become less about individual tasks and more about understanding the bigger picture and asking the right questions. Collaborating with different teams has shown me how everything fits together, and that’s changed how I approach designing and delivering solutions. What’s been most exciting is watching the systems we support evolve as teams find new ways to use them. Every new use case is a chance to build enhancements, solve new problems and make processes more effective.

Looking ahead, what are you most excited about as you continue building your career at Millennium?

I’m excited to keep growing as an engineer in an environment where technology and business never stand still. More than anything, I’m looking forward to taking on bigger challenges — deepening my technical skills and continuing to build solutions that make a real impact on the business.
