At Millennium, creativity is a core part of how technologists solve problems. Our Creative Engineer series highlights how engineers combine technical skills, curiosity and experimentation to build tools that support the firm’s investment teams.
Daniel Tymecki, an AI Engineer based in Miami, brings that mindset to his work every day. He originally joined Millennium through the firm’s Learning Engineering and Data (LEaD) program, which gives early-career software engineers the opportunity to accelerate their growth at the intersection of finance and technology in Miami.
Today, Daniel builds agentic tools for investment professionals and applies creativity to solving challenges in a fast-evolving technology landscape.

Can you explain your role in one sentence without using the word AI?
I build agentic tools for investment teams that sharpen decision-making, accelerate research capabilities and help investment professionals move with conviction.
What is one skill every technologist should master in the age of AI?
In the age of AI, I believe the people who succeed are often the ones who can turn ambiguity into execution. The defining skill is decomposition: taking a complex, messy problem and breaking it into clear, actionable steps. Sometimes that path is obvious, but usually it takes creativity to navigate a problem in a nuanced way.
How can AI change your approach to solving a challenge?
I think that AI is very good at offering quick alternative perspectives, which helps pressure-test ideas and uncover different pathways to solving challenges. It also compresses the gap between concept and prototype, so you can iterate at a scale that would have been very difficult to achieve in the past.
How do you apply creativity in your work as an engineer?
For me, creativity is a huge part of engineering because with new technology, there usually is not a playbook to follow. A lot of the job is figuring things out in real time and finding simple, practical ways to turn new ideas into solutions that work.
How has Millennium supported your continued learning of AI tools and resources?
Millennium invests in learning by providing access to leading models, time and resources to experiment and internal collaboration forums to share best practices. This makes it easy to keep learning while staying close to real business impact.
